Choosing The Right Roofing Company For Slate Roof Repair

Even talking about repairing a roof gives some homeowners a chill down their spine.  However, it doesn't have to be like that.  There are roofing companies out there that are ready to take on your project and do it in a manner that is cost effective, and will meet the quality standards that you deserve.  From slate roof repair, to standard shingle installation, there is not a job that cannot be completed to bring the relief that you need.

Because there are so many different kinds of scenarios and situations that can arise with every roofing project it's important to consult a qualified specialist for the specific situation you find yourself in.  When dealing with something a little more advanced like slate roof repair you are going to not only need somebody who specializes in slate roof repair, but has a track record of doing a great job.  Many times when slate starts to get old home owners opt out of slate, and go with something a little easier to maintain like a standard shingle.  However, the overall durability and amount of time that slate will last is far greater than a standard shingle.  But the downside is the price point up front, and the need for slate roof repair should something happen.

The benefits of having a slate roof are many.  The overall durability of them are almost unmatched.  Not only are resistant to hail, but they can also resist fire.  There are not many roofing surfaces that can brag those two claims.  When a roofing surface can resist the toughest of storms you are less likely to need slate roof repair, like you would when a conventional shingle.  However, the overall cost of installing new slate, or even paying for slate roof repair is enough to keep many new home builders away from this material.

There are other types of surfaces that are used in place of slate.  Authentic Roof is a brand that is just as resistant to the elements as slate, but is Eco friendly and is a composite material that will last a lifetime for the home.

Strengths and Weaknesses of this Type of Roofing Material

The strengths are simple in the fact that it's going to last for a long time, and withstand just about anything mother nature can throw at it.  The weakness's are the price point for the cost up front, or the cost of slate roof repair.  Overall a great buy, but not great for everyone.

Most people will call someone to come fix their slates but there are ways to save yourself the expense and fix it yourself. I found a youtube video that helped me do just that. There is a tool that comes in a kit that you use to both remove and replace the slates, it uses a cool doohickey that holds the slate in so you don't have to nail it in under the top slate (which would require removing both slates when you need only remove the broken one. just FYI
